This Sunday, December 3 from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM, all Physics
fileservers will be rebooted. This is to fix a problem with NFS in the
department. NFS is used by Linux computers, but generally not by Windows
or Mac computers.
Please note that PHYPCS, the Windows fileserver, will also reboot. This
is because it is dependent on one of the Unix fileservers.
Linux client computers will also need to reboot. I will try to do this
to all of them, but there may be some I do not have access to, so it
might be necessary for customers to reboot their own computer when they
come in. If a Linux computer shows NFS errors, reboot it. Contact
action at physics.osu.edu if a reboot does not fix the problem.
Windows computer users should not notice anything except during the
PHYPCS downtime. Most Mac users will not notice anything at all.
