[NEWS] Safety Protocol for Elevators Transporting Cryogenic Storage Tanks

Department members are reminded that the safety protocol for transporting cryogenic storage tanks in an elevator is to not ride in the cab along with the tank.

Unexpected release of cryogens in a confined space can quickly lead to an oxygen deprivation condition and possible suffocation.

If you encounter an unattended cryogenic tank in an elevator, wait for the elevator to return empty, or use the stairs.
