[ALERT] Message for High Pressure Gas Cylinder Users - Full Tanks Being Returned as Empty on January 6 2017

Attention all order placers / users of high pressure gas cylinders.

The storage rack in the loading dock is intended as a transitional location for cylinders arriving from and departing to OSU Stores for the convenience of end users and delivery personnel.

The Department expectation is that when orders are placed for cylinders, users track their deliveries and retrieve their inbound cylinders from the transition area in a timely manner.

Currently there are 26 cylinders in the area secured by a rack nominally sized for 6-8 cylinders.  (see attached photo).  Many of these cylinders have been present for weeks.

The Department has previously flagged this condition with minimal change in behavior and now considers the misuse of the area as chronic and unsustainable. (Reference Facility Info Message of September 8, 2016)

Because of continuing safety concerns and ongoing disregard for the transitional intent of the storage feature, ALL cylinders still present in this area on January 6 will be marked as empty and returned to Stores.

Because of the cost implications of returning full cylinders as empty, a second message will be sent the week of January 2nd as a reminder for users to take appropriate action to avoid monetary loss.
