All,
At the request of many after yesterday's colloquium, I have attached Prof. Herbers slides here. I wanted to also point out some resources that exist on campus/on the internet and some things you can do to make our physics department better for people who are underrepresented in our field.
1. Take an implicit bias test at https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/takeatest.html
2. Attend a SWiP meeting, join our listserv: http://u.osu.edu/swip/home/
3. Support professional societies that are already working on these problems: http://nsbp.org/donate/, https://www.aps.org/programs/minorities/bridge/index.cfm,
4. Report instances of bias to BART: http://studentlife.osu.edu/bias/
5. Listen to and validate the experiences of people in our department who are facing microaggressions daily.
6. Offer a professional development workshop. (It's really helpful for students who might not have a robust mentoring team, yet.)
7. Read this collection on Gender in Physics from Physical Review PER: https://journals.aps.org/prper/edannounce/10.1103/PhysRevPhysEducRes.12.020001
8. Take a workshop at the Multicultural Center: http://multiculturalcenter.osu.edu/education-and-training/
9. Find physics voices you don't normally hear from: https://medium.com/@chanda , http://lgbtphysicists.org/
10. Read up on and discuss growth mindset: http://www.sciencemag.org/careers/2014/08/when-women-have-it-all,
11. Learn how to recognize microaggressions: http://genderinharvardstem.tumblr.com/,

Thanks again for the great turnout.
