<p>At the request of many after yesterday's colloquium, I have attached Prof. Herbers slides here. I wanted to also point out some resources that exist on campus/on the internet and some things you can do to make our physics department better for people who
are underrepresented in our field.</p>
<p><br>
</p>
<p>1. Take an implicit bias test at <a href="https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/takeatest.html" target="_blank" class="x_OWAAutoLink" id="LPlnk952446">https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/takeatest.html</a></p>
<p>2. Attend a SWiP meeting, join our listserv: <a href="http://u.osu.edu/swip/home/" target="_blank" class="x_OWAAutoLink" id="LPlnk224098">http://u.osu.edu/swip/home/</a></p>
<p>3. Support professional societies that are already working on these problems: <a href="http://nsbp.org/donate/" target="_blank" class="x_OWAAutoLink" id="LPlnk783450">http://nsbp.org/donate/</a>, <a href="https://www.aps.org/programs/minorities/bridge/index.cfm" target="_blank" class="x_OWAAutoLink" id="LPlnk64689">https://www.aps.org/programs/minorities/bridge/index.cfm</a>, </p>
<p>4. Report instances of bias to BART: <a href="http://studentlife.osu.edu/bias/" target="_blank" class="x_OWAAutoLink" id="LPlnk417111">http://studentlife.osu.edu/bias/</a></p>
<p>5. Listen to and validate the experiences of people in our department who are facing microaggressions daily.</p>
<p>6. Offer a professional development workshop. (It's really helpful for students who might not have a robust mentoring team, yet.)</p>
<p>7. Read this collection on Gender in Physics from Physical Review PER: <a href="https://journals.aps.org/prper/edannounce/10.1103/PhysRevPhysEducRes.12.020001" target="_blank" class="x_OWAAutoLink" id="LPlnk41565">https://journals.aps.org/prper/edannounce/10.1103/PhysRevPhysEducRes.12.020001</a></p>
<p>8. Take a workshop at the Multicultural Center: <a href="http://multiculturalcenter.osu.edu/education-and-training/" target="_blank" class="x_OWAAutoLink" id="LPlnk402733">http://multiculturalcenter.osu.edu/education-and-training/</a> </p>
<p>9. Find physics voices you don't normally hear from: <a href="https://medium.com/@chanda" target="_blank" class="x_OWAAutoLink" id="LPlnk46846">https://medium.com/@chanda</a> , <a href="http://lgbtphysicists.org/" target="_blank" class="x_OWAAutoLink" id="LPlnk298045">http://lgbtphysicists.org/</a></p>
10. Read up on and discuss growth mindset: <a href="http://www.sciencemag.org/careers/2014/08/when-women-have-it-all" target="_blank" class="x_OWAAutoLink" id="LPlnk504444">http://www.sciencemag.org/careers/2014/08/when-women-have-it-all</a>, <br>
11. Learn how to recognize microaggressions: <a href="http://genderinharvardstem.tumblr.com/" target="_blank" class="x_OWAAutoLink" id="LPlnk218188">http://genderinharvardstem.tumblr.com/</a>, <br>

Thanks again for the great turnout.</div>
