Death of friend of Dept of Physics Carolyn Piper

Folks,

Many of you do not know Carolyn Piper, but many of you do and so I send this global email so that I don't leave anyone out.  Norm Gearhart, Carolyn's husband, just called me to tell me that Carolyn had passed a couple weeks ago.  I copy the obituary below.

The memorial service is on Saturday.  The department will send flowers, but if any of you wish to send a card, etc., please see me for the address.  You may also write in the guestbook at the obituary site above.

Norm and Carolyn have been good friends over the years and have generously donated to the department and the university.
