Physics Graduate Program Open House Sun/Mon March 24-25

We are pleased to host our annual Physics Graduate Program Open House this Sunday and Monday.  You will notice a lot of activity in the Atrium for the poster session on Monday 10-12:30 and then in the afternoon the prospective students will be looking for faculty offices and labs to meet with them in the afternoon.  Below is our schedule for the 2 day event.

Sunday, March 24th

1:15pm - 1:30 pm Welcome -Prof. Michael Poirier (Physics Chair) and Prof. Jon Pelz (Graduate Studies Chair)
1:30 pm - 1:40 pm Event logistics -Crystal Moloney, Bridge & Diversity Coordinator & Kris Dunlap, Physics Grad Program Coordinator
1:40 pm -1:50 pm Introductions: Name, where you are from & UG institution
1:50 pm - 2:50 pm Overview of physics grad program & department research areas -Prof. Jon Pelz
2:50 pm - Break
3:00 pm- Walking tour of campus highlights
3:40 pm - Presentation & Discussion by the Physics Graduate Student Council (PGSC) & Women and Gender Minorities in Physics (WaGMiP)
4:45 pm - Break before dinner -check in to Blackwell Hotel
6:00 pm - 7:15 pm - Blackwell Hotel buffet dinner in the hotel ballroom on 2nd floor. Note that seating is preassigned from your RSVP information about research areas and the faculty hosts that will attend.
 Optional Social Event
8:00 pm - TBD - Physics Graduate Student Council & other current physics grad students will host an optional social event. This is an opportunity to meet and talk with some of our students and have fun too.

10:25 am - 11:00 am -Astronomy chat in atrium
North Market at 59 Spruce St.
12:20 pm- Board OSU CABS bus from PRB Loading Dock to go to North Market
12:50 pm- 1:55 pm- Lunch at the North Market in the Short North district - visitors will pay for their lunch to be reimbursed via a per diem.

2:30 pm - 5:00 pm - Meetings with faculty from areas of interest
