  *   Researcher Engagement
     * The ASCTech Research Solutions group is eager to engage with researchers in the college - in fact, we have a Researcher Engagement program to do just that. We'd like to sit down with faculty or their research group to talk about how to make the best use of IT in their research. This is a good opportunity to identify IT-related obstacles that researchers encounter, communicate existing resources and solutions, and develop a relationship to encourage early engagement on future issues. The program is for both established and new researchers, and we're happy to talk with prospective faculty. If you or your department are interested in engaging, please contact us at action at physics.osu.edu<mailto:action at physics.osu.edu> or asctech at osu.edu<mailto:asctech at osu.edu>.

Reminders:

  * Every 3rd Tuesday of each month we release software patches to ASC machines. Please ensure your device is on and IF prompted - restart as soon as possible!
     *   Notes:
        * Critical security patches may be released outside of this patch schedule due urgency/time sensitivity.
        * You may experience a couple restarts as some updates may require multiple restarts.
  *   Crowdstrike on-demand scanning: LINK<https://osuitsm.service-now.com/nav_to.do?uri=%2Fkb_view_customer.do%3Fsysparm_article%3DKB08719>
     * The CrowdStrike Falcon On-Demand Scan (ODS) is an endpoint security feature designed to identify suspicious / malicious files using automatic and manual scans of local file systems (including USB storage devices). Currently this feature is only available for Windows devices. Scans will automatically occur when a USB storage device is connected and scans can also be started on a device by the user, through the right-click menu.
     * Always On VPN (AOVPN) for University Windows devices. You may not have to worry about Cisco AnyConnect:
        * Read more about it HERE<https://osuasc.teamdynamix.com/TDClient/1929/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=14542#:~:text=Always%20On%20VPN%C2%A0%2D%20Windows>!

Tips:

  * Teams vs OneDrive | Did you know that you can share files from Teams? And that Teams is preferred for sharing to a group of people?

     * Share from OneDrive or in a Teams chat for 1:1 file sharing, but for larger groups, use Teams.
