My apologies as the 2nd Riley awardee was incorrectly listed. Please see the correction below.
Below please find an excerpt from our mission statement as well as a description of the 2 teaching awards the department has to recognize our graduate teaching associates.
The mission of the Department of Physics is to promote and enhance the research of the department to a level that is competitive with that of the best universities in the country, and to promote teaching and service by the department to an equally high level of excellence. Assisting the department in recognizing excellence in our teaching mission we have the Hazel Brown Teaching Award. For demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence in our service courses, the following students are recognized by the Vice Chairs: Professors Humanic, Pelz and Gramila, our Dept Chair Prof. Poirier as well as by our teaching coordination team. These students truly represent the best in what a Graduate Teaching Associate can offer to our undergraduates and the Hazel Brown Teaching Award is given to recognize their contributions during the Autumn 2019 to Spring 2021 academic years.
