[OACRAO] EXT: Latin honors and residency

HI Ginny,

Our requirement is 60 hours but we have implemented a Transfer Policy as well.  Transfer students must earn at least 30 but fewer than 60 credit hours AND a minimum 3.500 KSU GPA and earn a minimum 3.500 transfer GPA.

We do not use the current credit hours to fulfill the requirement.  If a student does earn honors after the current semester grades are finalized, they are welcome to come pick up cords or exchange the cords if their designation would change.

Hi there,
Do you have a residency requirement for awarding Latin Honors? If so, how many hours are required to be earned at your institution?

Our general residency requirement has decreased over the years from 60 now to 30, but we have kept the Latin Honor residency at 42 for as long as anyone can remember. This weekend we had several transfer students contesting their Latin honor designations prior to commencement. They would earn the 42 hours after this semester. But since we base our commencement Latin honors are the previous semester, they were not happy.  I’m just wondering if it’s time to re-examine ours.
