Sue,

We are quarter based.  If we administratively withdraw a student, due to non-attendance, they will receive "W's".  If the student post attendance in week 8 or beyond and then stops attending, they will receive the grade earned at the end of the quarter.

Colleagues,

Our institution is having some discussion regarding our policy about unofficial withdrawals.

In cases where the college becomes aware that a student is no longer attending and you need to administratively withdraw a student for non-attendance, do any of your institutions issue an non-punitive grade if it is still before the last day to withdraw? Or do you instead issue a WF, UW or some other equivalent of a failing grade?
