Seeds of Middle Eastern Culture is a project about the human side of local food systems which we teach through cultural storytelling and hands-on learning. "Saffron - The Red Gold of Iran" shares the deep cultural significance of saffron in Persian and Iranian heritage through the story of Zari Mahmoudi’s mother. Zari offers a unique perspective on how food connects us socially and her story shows that certain foods are imbued with meaning and can express different messages within their cultural context. Enjoy this beautiful short story!
