Join us Wednesday, March 22nd, at 4 pm! The MES Forum will be an event<http://—how%20can%20we%20break%20out%20of%20the%2024%20hour%20news%20cycle,%20followed%20by%20apathy,%20and%20show%20sustained%20solidarity%20and%20support%20for%20people%20in%20need?%20%20—how%20should%20we%20be%20thinking%20about%20community%20support%20versus%20bureaucratic%20support?%20What%20have%20recent%20disasters%20shown%20us%20about%20this%20relationship?> to discuss grassroots efforts in Syria and Türkiye. We are also reaching out to student orgs for this in-real-life conversation. We would like to focus our discussion around these central questions:
—how can we break out of the 24 hour news cycle, followed by apathy, and show sustained solidarity and support for people in need?
—how should we be thinking about community support versus bureaucratic support? What have recent disasters shown us about this relationship?
We look forward to lively discussion and a time for reflection. Though the room is currently unconfirmed, you may RSVP<https://mesc.osu.edu/form/2023-03-22-march-22th-4-pm-makin> to the event for updates and reminders. We will update as soon as the room is assigned.
Best wishes,
Rahma Anjum and Melinda McClimans
