Dear MES Forum,
We’re going to meet in person next semester on Wednesday, January 24th at 4:00pm in the Research Common’s<https://library.osu.edu/researchcommons> Brainstorming room. We all value student success yet we rarely focus on undergraduates in these forums. We’re going to amend that with an interactive discussion about culture using pictures. Please send me pictures of your fieldwork! Or, pictures taken in the Middle East or surrounding areas that mean something to you personally.
Please share this forum with your students, especially undergraduate. We are forming a group of student consultants who will get special mentorship opportunities and will shape our programs going forward. This is their chance to get in on the ground floor and access perks early.
The Brainstorming room is fully equipped for hybrid events so there will be a zoom option for those who wish to join remotely. Please RSVP<https://mesc.osu.edu/form/2024-01-24-middle-east-studies-f> by January 18th to let me know if you will be joining remotely or in person so I will know how much food to bring. Thank you so much. Here is the full list of events (correction: I had written it would be a Thursday when it will actually be a Wednesday).:

The exhibit will run from January 19- March 15, 2024 at the Kuhn Fine Arts Gallery on the Marion campus (1465 Mount Vernon Avenue, Marion, Ohio 43302). Stay tuned for details on an opening event in January.
We will host author and critic Dr. Adania Shibli of an online event in March – stay tuned for the date and time. The event is organized by OIA, NESA, MESC and others.
If there are other events you believe your colleagues would be interested in attending, please feel free to write directly to this list.
Best wishes,
Melinda
