Carleton College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant
professorship in Chinese Language and Literature. The promise of
excellence in scholarship and teaching is required. Teaching duties are
five courses per year on a trimester schedule, which normally includes
four courses of language instruction at all levels and one course of
literature in translation. PhD or its imminent completion is required. A
successful applicant will be fluent in both Chinese and English; possess a
broad knowledge of Chinese literature; and be committed to, trained in,
and experienced at teaching Chinese language to undergraduates. The
appointment will begin September 1, 2014.

addressing the candidate¹s teaching experience and interests and scholarly
agenda; sample syllabi; and at least one scholarly writing sample in
