POSITION IN CHINESE LANGUAGE AND LINGUISTICS: JOB DESCRIPTION

University of Hawai'i at M?noa, Department of East Asian Languages and
Literatures, invites applications for tenure-track, full-time, 9-month
position in Chinese Language and Linguistics at the rank of Assistant,
Associate or Full Professor, position number 82967. Appointment to begin
August 1, 2013.

Duties: Teach undergraduate courses in Chinese language and linguistics;
teach graduate courses in area(s) of specialization, which may include
Chinese sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics or historical linguistics.
Advise undergraduate and graduate students; conduct and publish research
in area(s) of specialization; participate in departmental and university
service and activities for academic programs; other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Assistant Prof.: PhD in Chinese language/linguistics, or in related field,
in hand at time of hire; high level proficiency in Chinese and English;
demonstrated ability to carry out research in the applicant's major areas
of specialization as evidenced by publication.

Associate Prof.: The qualifications for Assistant Professor, and, in
addition: at least four years of full-time college or university service;
experience in teaching Chinese language and linguistics at a college
level; scholarly achievement judged competent and adequate for the rank in
comparison with peers active at major research universities; evidence of
participation in the scholarly and academic affairs of a university.

Professor: the qualifications for Associate Professor, and, in addition:
previous appointment at the rank of full professor or equivalent; at least
eight years of full-time college or university service, scholarly
achievement and research productivity that has resulted in significant
recognition by the national or international community of scholars;
demonstrated continuing participation and leadership in the scholarly and
academic affairs of a university .
Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
