Chinese Position

Assistant Professor of Chinese.  The Department of Languages, Literatures,
and Cultures at the University of North Carolina Greensboro is seeking a
dynamic Assistant Professor of Chinese to join a growing Chinese program
and to contribute to a vibrant Asian Studies program.
 

Applicants must hold or anticipate a Ph.D. in the field of Chinese
literature (traditional or modern), culture, linguistics, or related
subjects by August 1, 2013.  A commitment to research is essential;
experience teaching all levels of modern standard Mandarin at U.S.
universities; experience designing curricula, developing course materials,
and working with study abroad programs is preferred; expertise in online
or distributive education is also a plus.  A native or near-native
proficiency in both English and modern standard Mandarin is required.
 

Duties will include teaching Chinese language, literature, and culture as
well as building the Chinese program at UNCG.  This position will also
require a dedication to leading and participating in extra- and
co-curricular initiatives, supporting UNCG¹s ³Global Village² learning
community, and working with interdisciplinary programs, especially
International and Global Studies (where the Asian Studies program resides).
 

Greensboro is a diverse city, reflective of the larger adjacent diverse

reflected in the composition of undergraduate student body. The start date
for this position will be August 1, 2013.   The starting salary will be
commensurate with qualifications and experience; the position also
provides a competitive benefits package.
