³Ecocriticism: Transpacific Dialogue²
February 17-18, 2013

A one-day conference bringing together Chinese and American ecocritics to
share ideas, compare positions, and initiate ongoing dialogue with each
other.

This conference is being organized by the University of Central Florida
and Beijing Language and Culture University to facilitate dialogue among
American and Chinese scholars and graduate students interested in
ecocritical issues. It will have the current President of the Association
for the Study of Literature and Environment, Joni Adamson, as keynote
speaker, Sunday night. On Monday there will be two plenary sessions with
speakers from China. There will also be three sets of concurrent panel
sessions with both American and Chinese presenters. The organizers intend
to publish a selection of the papers in China, either in English or in
Chinese translation.

Please send expressions of interest as soon as possible to
patrick.murphy at ucf.edu to facilitate planning.
Abstracts for papers on any facet of ecocritical orientations focusing on
American, Chinese, or comparative topics of literature, culture and
society are welcomed. Please submit by December 31st also to
patrick.murphy at ucf.edu. Anticipate a 15-20 minute presentation time.

We will be setting up a website for registration some time later in
December and including information about hotels and rates.
Conference events will most likely take place on campus, although we may
