Dear MCLCers

Artspace China is a website profiling the contemporary Chinese arts
(visual arts, film, music, literature and performing arts) for both a
general and specialised readership. The site is based at the University of
Sydney but has a very global following.

Until now, Artspace China has been the blog of one author - myself - and
has focussed on interviews with practitioners in the contemporary Chinese
arts as a way of opening up to more voices. However the site is currently
undergoing a major upgrade in order to broaden its scope and audience and,
as part of this, will be able to include other authors.

I was hoping that those on the MCLC list might help put the word out,
since I am currently seeking proposals for contributions. Interviews,
articles, reviews, opinion pieces, photo essays are all sought, and from
writers, researchers, students, and arts professionals.

Ultimately, my goal is to create an online community of those working both
in and on the contemporary Chinese arts, to help link the many people
around the world with a strong interest in this area. I'd also like to
help make a lot of these conversations accessible to a more general
public, while creating an ongoing resource for those conducting more
specialised research. As far as I am aware there are relatively few sites
that consider the contemporary Chinese arts more broadly (i.e. without a
focus on one art form), particularly in the English language.
