[Marstudent] The New Science and Engineering Building: A student's perspective

Dear fellow students,


My name is Amanda deJonge.  I am a junior, majoring in New Media & Communication Technology.  For the past three years, I have attended Ohio State Marion and worked in the Office of Communications & Marketing.  Last week, I was afforded the opportunity, through my job, to get a glimpse of the Science and Engineering Building.  I will have to say, I felt honored to be one of the first students inside the building.  It is a spectacular facility.  Those majoring in the sciences or engineering, as well as those students taking general science curriculum will surely be impressed with this state-of-the-art facility.  In my humble opinion, it is a spectacular structure that will serve campus students for many years to come.

Here are a few recent pictures of building progress.  (Pictured below:  Solar panels, green house, chemistry hoods, lab work tables)

I learned that the building is on schedule.  Here is an estimated rundown of the construction schedule and grand opening as I know it.

Estimated completion/Building turned over to Ohio State Marion date - July 10, 2017.
Furniture installation date - July 11 to July 20, 2017
Move in date - July 24 to July 28, 2017
Grand Opening date – August 1, 2017, 9:30 a.m.  All students are invited to attend
Classes begin in the new building – August 22, 2017

For those who are not off to Columbus in 2017-18 academic year, which I unfortunately am, I know you will enjoy the new Science & Engineering Building.
