[Intl_DxMedPhys] Proposed Amendment to Illinois regulations to address the use of "Enhanced Radiation Protection Systems"

FYI - for anyone who is interested, I've attached the proposed rule that I
downloaded and highlighted because not all of the changes are in red text in

Use of X-Rays in the Healing Arts Including Medical, Dental, Podiatry, and
Veterinary Medicine, 32 Ill. Adm. Code 360

IEMA-OHS' Office of Nuclear Safety (ONS) has drafted amendments to this Part
and a draft has been provided below for stakeholder review. These pending
amendments update the rule to allow an alternative, enhanced radiation
protection systems,  to the currently required use of protective aprons when
fluoroscopy equipment is used for Cardiac Catheterization procedures.

ONS is currently accepting public comment on the draft amendments. Any
questions/comments concerning these drafts can be directed to
<mailto:MaryAnn.Spohrer at illinois.gov> MaryAnn.Spohrer at illinois.gov until
5:00PM on January 21, 2026. 

These draft amendments have not been filed for promulgation yet, but
IEMA-OHS does anticipate filing in February 2026. The public will be able to
provide comment during the formal rulemaking process also. Updates regarding
the status of these draft amendments will be provided on this webpage.
