Dear all,

I want to reach out with an exciting opportunity that could offer a new chapter in your professional journey. University Hospital Limerick, part of the Health Service Executive (HSE) in the Mid-West region of Ireland, is currently seeking a Senior Medical Physicist who has experience in supporting the Diagnostic Radiology service to join their dynamic and forward-thinking team.

The staff provides a broad range of clinical service support and teaching in all Radiology imaging related healthcare disciplines (Diagnostic, Interventional and Nuclear Medicine) across the 6 sites in the Hospital Group: University Hospital Limerick (UHL), Ennis Hospital, Nenagh Hospital, Croom Orthopaedic Hospital & University Maternity Hospital Limerick.

The growing Medical Physics Department supports staff to use their talents and develop to their full potential by giving them the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the service. The successful candidate will provide medical physics support in Diagnostic Radiology, playing a key role in procurement, acceptance, commissioning, optimisation and routine quality assurance of X-ray diagnostic equipment.

Research and development is encouraged. The Department has close links with University of Limerick, the Academic Partner to HSE Mid-West Health Region.

The post holder will be required to submit an application to the Irish College of Physicists in Medicine (ICPM) for registration as a Medical Physics Expert in “Diagnostic Radiology and Imaging Physics” within 12 months of taking up the post. Ideally US applicants should have American Board of Radiology certification, however those who can provide evidence that they are eligible for Board certification will also be considered for shortlisting for interview.
