Here are entered works on the modern religious movement that holds that it is possible to identify completely with Jewish culture and religion and to believe that Jesus is the Messiah. Works on various movements throughout Jewish history that strive for an independent political existence of the Jewish people under a Davidic leader and world-wide renewal are entered under Jewish messianic movements.

The members of this religious movement are called Jewish Christians. Can you give us any history of this subject term, Haim?

I totally agree. We already have Christian converts from Judaism. Of course this would only apply to Jews who convert to Christianity, either to a messianic denomination or to a regular one. This does not cover what I think is the majority

We already have Christian converts from Judaism. Of course this would only apply to Jews who convert to Christianity, either to a messianic denomination or to a regular one. This does not cover what I think is the majority of Messianics: folks who were born Christian and now practice a syncretic Jewish-Christian religion. At least all messianics I ever met where in fact evangelical non-Jews, or people that claimed to have a Jewish grandparent, for instance.

We could use Protestant churches—with some subdivision Jewish-inspired  or along those terms.

This is not an easy solution. Perhaps Messianic churches would indicate that they are a church based in their understanding of Judaism and its messianic thought.

I was working on a NAR and on page 4 of the cover the author states he is a Messianic Jew. I looked in both LCSH and LCDGT and both use the term Jewish Christians. The scope note is really concerning and seems incorrect.

"Here are entered works on Christians of Jewish antecedence who still identify, or are identified, with their Jewish origins, including adherents of Messianic Judaism."

I don't think all "Messianic Jews" start off as Jews but are Christians who get involved in this movement. I propose that this subject term gets added to the Christian bias in LCSH project.
