[Heb-NACO] Relationship designator for writer of hagdomeh

A bit of a trivial RDA question, but what would you use as a relationship designator for the writer of a הקדמה (hagdomeh) in a Yiddish book – ‘writer of foreword’ or ‘writer of preface’? Weinreich’s dictionary gives both ‘foreword’ and ‘preface’ as translations of הקדמה . 




Unfortunately RDA does not provide us in their glossary with definitions of either term (a glaring omission on their part if they are going to ask us to differentiate between the two) so I went to the OED for definitionsL 

Preface: 

The introduction to a literary work, usually stating its subject, purpose, scope, method, etc.; (in modern use also) spec. an introductory note, often of a personal nature, written by the author and distinguished from a foreword and an introduction. 

Introduction: 

A preliminary explanation prefixed to or included in a book or other writing; the part of a book which leads up to the subject treated, or explains the author's design or purpose. Also, the corresponding part of a speech, lecture, etc. 



There’s been some interesting discussion on the RDA list about the fact that there is now no distinction between ‘editor’ and ‘editor of compilation’ on the one hand, but on the other hand RDA maintains these tiny distinctions regarding writers of supplementary text! 


Yes, I completely agree. I am quite distressed that we no longer have "editor of compilation" which was a very useful relationship designator and which is quite distinct from "editor" and then they parse out the more general " writer of supplementary textual content"
