Subject: [PCCLIST] MARC 21 AF Fields 368 and 382: PCC/NACO Restrictions
Everyone,
This is a detail-y message (as opposed to a detailed message) about restrictions on using certain indicators and subfields for two MARC 21 Authority fields coded in NACO records:
Field 368 (Other Attributes of Person or Corporate Body)
Field 382 (Medium of Performance)
I am sending this message since the next update to DCM Z1 will not appear until January 2013 -- this information will be incorporated into that update, but the restrictions are in effect now.
Field 368 (Other Attributes of Person or Corporate Body):
Until further notice, LC/PCC catalogers are asked NOT to supply the following subfields:
Subfield $d (Title of Person)
Subfield $s (Start period)
Subfield $t (End period)
Subfield $u (URI)
Subfield $v (Source of Information)
Field 382 (Medium of Performance):
Until further notice, LC/PCC catalogers are asked NOT to supply:
Indicator 1
or any of the following subfields:
Subfield $b (Soloist)
Subfield $d (Doubling Instrument)
Subfield $n (Number of performers of the same Medium)
Subfield $p (Alternative Medium of Performance)
Subfield $s (Total Number of Performers)
Subfield $v (Note) As support for these reminders, please see the OCLC Technical Bulletin 261, OCLC-MARC Format Update 2012, issued in May 2012:

Thanks,
