[Heb-NACO] citations in rare book records

The record number (called the 'Book Number' at the top of the full display in the current English language interface, or 'mispar ma'arekhet' at the bottom of the full display in the Hebrew interface) is a 9 digit number with leading zeroes. In the CDI version it should be the same number, but 7 digits (minus 2 leading zeroes). This is the ID number of the record in the Aleph BHB database (MARC field 001) and should remain stable. If and when the data is moved to a different platform I expect these numbers will at least be maintained and indexed for reference purposes.
Best wishes
Elhanan

Hi Elhanan, thanks for responding. I'm glad to hear the numbers are the same. Perhaps I've been looking in the wrong place. Please clarify what number you think would be best when giving a citation in a bib 510 4_ $c for Bibl. of Hebrew Book.

Neither am I. I suspect not. But you'd have to ask someone at NLI.

Do record numbers in the NLI match the number in the BHB? I'm not sure.
Please pardon typos; sent from my iPod.

In the NLI version there is a system number at the end of each record, which should be unique. I would cite BHB in addition to other sources such as Vinograd and Friedberg.

I used BHB several times in the past and I believe I gave the record number (This was before the move to the new platform). Today I am not sure that this number is valid anymore.

Hello dear colleagues,
I'm starting to catalog rare books and see that it is common practice to cite the bibliographic resources Friedberg (aka Eked Bet Sefarim) and Vinograd. I've been asked by my colleague if perhaps there is a move away from these traditional sources to citing the now-online Bibliography of the Hebrew Book. Is anyone citing BHB? If so, what data is cited, and is BHB used instead of or in addition to the other two sources?
Thanks for your input, Jasmin
