Thanks for your useful remarks. The National Library did choose to use the term Eretz Israel for Palestine or Israel before 1948. (It was supposed to be replaced automatically and since it was not, I corrected the wrong subject heading in our library and it is now

Folks:

I was, as is my want, strolling through the NAF this morning when I came upon something that had me scratching my head.

ARN 5216240   World War, 1914-1918 ǂx Campaigns ǂz Israel

Isn't this an untruth?  Technically speaking Israel didn't really start existing again until 1948, and there's already something in the NAF to reflect this circumstance:

ARN 2111247  World War, 1914-1918 ǂx Campaigns ǂz Palestine

Please know that I am not making apolitical point.  I object to/question rather to the apparent ahistoricity of the former.  Or am I just wrong?
