I draw your attention to a tenure-track Assistant Professor opening in
Geographic Information Science in the Department of Geography, Environment,
and Society at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.

Assistant Professor - Geographic Information Science

Department of Geography, Environment and Society
University of Minnesota, Twin Cities campus.

We seek a Geographic Information Scientist who contributes to traditional
departmental strengths in geovisualization and cartography, spatial
analysis and modeling, and/or GIS and society. Desirable but not required
are secondary research interests in computation on large datasets or
examining population and health issues via spatial science approaches.

The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain a
strong program of research and publication; external research support;
undergraduate and graduate instruction and advising; and service to the
department, college, University, and profession appropriate for the rank of
appointment.

This is a tenure-track appointment at the rank of assistant professor. This
is a 100%-time position over the nine-month academic year (late-August to
late-May), beginning spring semester 2015 (01/08/2015) or fall semester
2015 (08/31/2015). Review of complete applications will begin on September

The Department of Geography, Environment and Society at the University of
Minnesota is an internationally recognized department with a broad program
involving scholars working in urban geography, globalization,
nature-society studies, development studies, climatology, biogeography, and
GIScience. It offers degrees in Geography; Urban Studies; Biology, Society,
and Environment; Geographic Information Sciences; and Public Health. See
