The Department of Central, Eastern, and Northern European Studies at the
University of British Columbia in Vancouver is delighted to announce a
series of virtual events with *award-winning graphic novelist Nora Krug*
from October 27th to 29th, 2020.



This online event series is hosted by the *German Consulate General in
Vancouver* in cooperation with the *Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre*,
the *Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies at the University of
Victoria*, and the *Department of Central, Eastern, and Northern European
Studies at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver*.

Featuring Nora Krug in conversation with Marsha Lederman, the daughter of
Holocaust survivors and the Western Art Correspondent of *The Globe and
Mail*, the event will explore themes of identity, memory, inherited
responsibility and the cultural legacies of war in Krug’s visual
memoir, *Belonging:
A German Reckons with History and Home*, winner of the 2018 National Book
Critics Circle Award in Autobiography.

Students from the University of British Columbia and the University of
Victoria will have a conversation with author Nora Krug in the virtual
classroom on Zoom. They will be able to ask questions and discuss Krug’s
graphic novel *Belonging* with the author. Only UBC and UVic students may
register.
