My name is Sheena C. Howard, Ph.D. I have been studying comics for the last
10 years, having completed my dissertation on race and gendered
representations in the Boondocks comic strip. My first book, Black Comics:
Politics of Race and Representation won an Eisner award and I have been
featured in major media outlets for my comics work, including but not
limited to: the L.A. Times, New York Times, Washington Post, NBC, BBC and
more.

I believe when we raise our profile in mainstream media, we all benefit as
comics scholars. This webinar is for any academic at any stage in their
