GRANTS AND AWARDS


  *   Incoming grad student Yvette Onyango was awarded an Old Woman Creek Fellowship from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to conduct wetland research with Prof. Gil Bohrer. This is a competitive training grant awarded to current or incoming students with research/education plans involving wetlands in Ohio.


HONORS AND PRIZES


  *   Allison is pleased to announce that Anthony Massari was recognized as a Spring 2021 Buckeye Access All-Star. This is a student-nominated award administered by the Student Life Disabilities Services for faculty who make a difference in students' experiences at Ohio State by promoting access for students with disabilities. Congratulations!


  *   Jieun Hur was recognized as the 2021 Outstanding Engineering Educator by the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers (OPSE). This award criteria includes special scholastic honors that the recipient has achieved, membership in honorary societies, teaching experience, other engineering faculty assignments, professional experience, research completed and in progress, papers, publications and patents, presentations, outside activities, and involvement in community programs.




PUBLICATIONS AND CONFERENCE PAPERS


  *   Daniel Pradel contributed a report to the Kansai University (Japan) Institute for Innovative Global Education's whitepaper, 'I-paper'. Learning from Disasters: Extreme events and their impact on infrastructure, engineering and society was the result of partnership with the University of Tsukuba on a proposal for a "Rapid Response Virtual Exchange /COIL Transformation Lab" in summer 2020. Colleagues from various units at the Ohio State University, including the Office of International Affairs, the College of Engineering Global Office, Engineering faculty, and Instructional Designers, proposed a collaborative course with the University of Tsukuba (UT). Lead faculty Dr. Pradel collaborated with the University of Tsukuba's Professor Takashi Matsushima to offer parallel courses at their respective institutions with the support of the American Council on Education Rapid Response COIL grant, workshops and training.
