  *   Congratulations! Erin Stewartson (1st Yr CEGE PhD student) was awarded an ACI Foundation Concrete Materials Fellowship by the American Concrete Institute. Fellowship recipients receive a $10,000 (USD) educational stipend; paid travel expenses and attendance fees to two ACI conventions; and assistance in finding an industry mentor. Erin is a member of Lisa Burris’ Cementitious Materials Novel Technologies Research Group (CeMNT).

  *   Assessing graduate student DEI educational needs - The Office of Postdoctoral Studies is interested in better understanding graduate student educational needs with respect to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) issues. To accomplish this, a brief survey has been created that addresses experiences with various DEI topics and barriers to participation in advancing DEI initiatives. The survey will take no more than 3-5 minutes to complete and will help us develop educational materials to be used in a Team Science course for Ohio State graduate students. 🔑 Graduate Professional Development Opportunities

  *   DUE THIS WEEK! 2021 CEE Rising Stars Workshop: October 28-29 @ MIT - The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at MIT is inviting top early career womxn (postdocs and advanced PhD students) in CEE and related fields who are interested in careers in academia to apply for participation in an expenses-paid, two-day workshop (Oct 28-29, 2021). Participants will have an opportunity to present their research, as well as attend panel discussions with faculty focused on issues related to navigating the early stages of an academic career. The goal of this "Rising Stars" workshop is to foster a new generation of womxn in academia and promote diversity in the faculty ranks.
