We are coming to the end of week of week three of Autumn semester.  I've received several emails with information on professional development opportunities.  Please see below and the attachments for more information. I'm also attaching the list of important dates for this semester.a

Postdoctoral training is a necessary step to become faculty in most STEM fields. Recently postdoctoral positions in the social sciences and humanities have become common as well. This session will focus on the critical aspects graduate students need to consider when selecting a postdoc position. Choosing the right postdoctoral mentor is crucial for success but this is not enough. Understanding their responsibility for driving their career and professional development is also essential. Learning what resources to look for and how to approach this training period increases the chances of success at this level. This workshop will include topics such as funding, mentorship, career development, job responsibilities, and benefits.

2020 BASF Research Forum (Application deadline: September 18th)
BASF is inviting Ph.D. students and postdoctoral researchers to apply for the North American Physical Sciences Research Forum. Please see the additional attached pdf which also contains the application link (Application deadline: 18th September).


Process Development Rotational Program (PDRP) at Genentech

PDRP is a competitive and prestigious program where associates are hired as full-time employees and are given the opportunity to rotate through four departments within the Pharma Technical Development (US) organization of Genentech over the course of two years. PDRP has been around for over ten years and has traditionally attracted talent from the science and engineering majors from top colleges and universities in these fields, but this year the scope of the program has expanded to include talent from digital science majors (i.e. data science, bioinformatics, computer science).


We would like to encourage graduating or recently-graduated students from your institution to apply. Please feel free to forward this message along with the attached two flyers to relevant students and student groups. For the August 2021 start date, the application will be open from September 15 - October 15, 2020. After this period, the application may be open intermittently and we will be reviewing applications on a rolling-basis.
