Dear Faculty Colleagues:
It was brought to our attention that a graduate student in CBEC 490F does not wear a mask when working in the lab. This is a violation of the university’s COVID19-related safety rules.
At this point, rather than identifying the student, I am choosing to send a general email.
I am asking the faculty who use 490F (and all faculty who are involved in experimental research) to communicate with their students about the importance of following the safety rules. The next violation may result in taking the access privileges from the student(s) involved or the university or the college administration may choose to shut down part or all of our labs.
We all need to be extra vigilant in making sure that the safety of our students, postdocs and all researchers working in the labs are not jeopardized by one or two individuals who choose to violate the rules.
The danger posed by COVID19 virus is real.
Thanks.
