I know some of you have questions about pre and post-labs, the Notebook
Exercise and Quiz for Exp ZER and these things in general.

For the experiments there is a pre-lab for every exp. All exps (except ZER) have
reports. Some have post-labs. The post-lab material could be a report, quiz,
data-entry or a combination of these. You can see what's due (pre-lab, post-lab,
report, quiz, etc.) on Carmen by looking at each lab module. There is also a table
on page 16 of the syllabus that shows what's due for each exp. There's links on
page 17 to take you to the external website for the pre-labs, on-line data entry or
quiz and the Notebook Exercise for Exp ZER. These same links are in the modules
in Carmen so you can reach the external site through Carmen or from the syllabus
(or the "Laboratory" link on my class webpage). The syllabus explains the due
dates and they're also on Carmen.

For Lab ZER (Check-in and Zero), there's post-lab work. There's no report. There's
a Notebook Exercise and lab Zero Quiz (based on material from the syllabus, the
manual, the lab presentation this week) due one week after you do the exp. The
Notebook Exercise is NOT the same as the notebook pages you were suppose to
upload to Carmen last week at the end of the lab. These are due BEFORE lab
this week.

Again, you can reach these via Carmen (Lab Zero) or from the links in the table on
page 17 of the syllabus or the "Laboratory" link on my Chem 1250 web page.

Even if you go directly to the above link you should read the instructions
for this module on Carmen. At the above link you'll find several links, the
top one which will take you to the page with the links for the pre-labs,
post-labs, etc.

For the Notebook Exercise write your answers using a word processor (Word,
not Notability). There are two parts to this exercise, "Notebook Preps" (top half)
and "Recorded Data" (bottom half). These are examples of notebooks, both
when you come to lab and after taking data. Please label your answers for each
with "Sample #" and then your answer. Treat this as a report and following the
naming convention described in the syllabus with ZER as the 3-digit code.

Submit this via Carmen. See instructions in the syllabus about submitting
digital reports on Carmen. There's also an instruction document on Carmen
as well in the "Laboratory" module, "Digital Lab Report Submission
Instructions". This document and the "Guide to Digital Lab Reports" tells
you what to do and how to upload your reports to Carmen. The document
MUST be a Word (.docx) file or an electronically generated PDF (.pdf) file
(do not scan the document).

Do not use Notability to prepare this Notebook Exercise or reports.

Take the quiz. Before you do, read the instructions and click on the
"Terms and conditions of use" above the list of experiments. There's
also an "Instructions" button in red that you should click on and read.
Once you feel your answers are complete click on the submit box and
then the submit results button. Once you submit you can't make corrections.
You should receive an e-mail if submitted correctly. The feedback you
get right after submitting shows correct answers (worth 15 pts).

For ALL pre-labs and post-labs at this site you get ONE chance to submit.
Make sure you're satisfied with your answers. Then click on the check-box
at the bottom and it will let you submit.
