Here are more details concerning the notebook which should help
in preparing for lab. This has to be done before lab this week.

I was given the okay to save the manual pages with all the tables
and pictures as a PDF. It's in the Carmen module for Exp 7. You
can download this into Notability on your iPad to use as the
notebook pages for this exp. Although, I'm not sure if you can
increase the size of the boxes and will be able to write in them
easily with your fingers. You can certainly type things in when
possible.

Alternatively, you can print them out and bring that with you to use
as the notebook for this exp. Then fill things in and take pictures
to submit as your notebook.

You still need to put in the boxes and table from the Data to
Collection section on pages 72-73 for Part 2. That's not part
of this PDF.

If you don't want to use the PDF and write things in you can
make up your notebook as explained below.

You should have the boxes drawn in the notebook before lab.
You will answer the questions in those boxes in the manual in
the boxes in your notebook. Do you have to copy the questions
from those boxes into the notebook?

Here's what you need:

Part 1:

Put page numbers at the top of each page and do the following:

Page 53: you don't need to copy the questions but just the boxes
and you'll answer the questions in the boxes in your notebook.

Page 54: For the first box at the top draw in the first two waves
and have someplace to draw wave C.

Large box at the in the middle of page 54. Have the
box in the notebook before lab (again put page #). During lab
you'll write the sentences in that box with the blanks filled in.

Have a place for the bottom box and you can fill it in during lab.

Page 55: Have the box in the notebook before lab (again put
page #). During lab you'll write the sentences in that box with
the blanks filled in and fill in the rest of the box during lab.

Page 56: Have a page with the boxes on this page. You don't
have to write out the sentence in the 2nd box.

Page 57. You should have the headings at the top and down
the left side for box 1 and the box and headings for box 2.

Page 58: For the boxes on this page you don't need to copy all
three choices, just write the correct answer in the boxes you draw
in the notebook before lab.

Page 59: Do similar things for the boxes on page 59.

Make your boxes big enough to allow room to fill things in, about
the size they are in the lab manual.

Page 60: Copy the table into the notebook so you can fill in the
blanks during lab.

Pages 61 and 62: For these boxes have the headings and the
wavelengths down the side. Make some columns like in the table
and leave room to write your predictions. For the top row of the
box on page 61 you don't have to copy every word in each box,
just a few of the important things.

Page 63: For this table have the columns and headings.

Page 64: Just make rough sketches of the pictures and put in
the info about the quantum numbers. You don't have to put in
every single word.

Page 65: For the top table have the columns and the column
headings for the quantum numbers.

For the bottom table, just have the table, you can write in the
allowed combinations of quantum numbers during lab.

Part 2:

Include the stuff from the Data to Collect section on pages
72-73. You'll fill this in during lab.
