Someone had questions about the exp 5 rubric concerning the post-lab
and results points. The post-lab (16 pts) is the grading of having the
correct calculations (based on your input) and the correct s.f. If you get
the s.f. wrong it could make your number off by too much and it will count
it wrong (i.e. it will deduct calculation points).
The results (30 pts) is grading of precision for part A and precision and
accuracy for part B (the correct MW). These are graded on a sliding scale
depending on how good is your precision and the accuracy of the MW
(compared to the true MW).
I suggest you do all your calculations and enter the numbers on the report
form, or a copy of it, and double check things. Then go to the data-entry
site (can be reached via Carmen, the syllabus or my web page) and pretty
much just copy over your numbers.
If the data-entry program comes back with points deducted for incorrect
s.f. correct them on the report form (sheet) for the report. If your
calculations
were wrong according to the program check to make sure you did them
correctly and correct things for the report sheet.
Finally, just in case you don't realize this yet, there's a PDF form of the
rubric which pretty much lays things out on one form. It's a little bit
easier
to see what you have to do than the Carmen rubric used for grading. This
is the case for all experiments.
