We finished up through phase diagrams in ch 11, through 11.6,
in all editions this past Tuesday (this includes the lecture videos
I put on my website).  We are not doing 11.7 (liquid crystals)
in the 12th-14th editions.  This is interesting but we don't have
time.  This is covered in section 12.8 in the 10th and 11th editions
(which we aren't covering).

We will be discussing the structure of solids and they types of
solids today.  This is in the last two sections in the 10th and 11th
editions (10.7-10.8 and 11.7-11.8).  For those using the 12th-14th
editions these sections are on Carmen.  Go to the "Lecture" module.
There's a sub-module 'Chapter "12": Solids - Structure and Bonding"
(recently changed the title to this from "Chapter 12: Solids and
Modern materials").

There you'll find links to the material in section 11.7-11.8 from the
11th ed.  You'll also find the end-of-chapter homework problems for
this material from the 11th edition.  If you want to check you're
answers you'll need to use the solutions' manual for the 11th ed.

We are technically NOT doing anything from ch 12 in any editions
of the book.  The material about solids I will be covering is in ch 12
in the 12th-14th ed. but is spread out all over the place.  What's
on Carmen from the 11th ed. consolidated the material we'll be
covering.

We may also start ch 13 today.  Lecture videos for pages 1-11 were
posted yesterday.  We'll be starting on page 12 of the notes (shows
page 16 in the bottom right corner) which has "Solubility" at the top.
