I'm still getting questions about the lab. Some of these may be answered
in my video version of the syllabus.
You'll find Laboratory information by going to the Modules link and then
the Laboratory section and then click on an experiment. You'll find
information
about what needs to be done for each experiment and pre-lab and post-lab
links for the experiments.
The first two things you'll see is the lab Safety Statement and the
Gatekeeper
Quiz. I've told everyone one about this multiple times. The TAs should have
had you do the Safety Statement in the first lab if you hadn't done it
already.
If you still haven't done it you MUST take it before 11:59 PM on Sunday,
Aug. 27.
This statement has to be read and "signed" (click on the button
attesting to the
fact you've read and understand the safety rules) and before your first
lab period.
You won't be allowed into lab next week if this isn't done. You also
need to
take the Check-in and Safety (Gatekeeper) Quiz by 11:59 PM Sunday. If you
don't you won't have access to the other lab materials you need (like
the pre-lab
for exp 2). I've sent this information in a previous e-mail so this
should just be
a reminder but I see a lot of people have not done these things.
Next you'll see "Digital Lab Report Submission". This has instructions for
what you need to do for uploading the lab reports. You MUST follow these
instructions. They can also be found when you click on the Laboratory
module or
the Exp 1 link. It is your responsibility to make sure you upload the
correct files
with the correct formats and names and they aren't corrupted.
You'll also find report rubrics for each experiment at the link for an
experiment.
The rubric tells you what you need to do for each experiment. You'll
find two
forms of the rubric. The on-line grading rubric the TA will use to
enter your
scores in each section is at the bottom. In the Criteria column you'll
see what
should be included in the report. If you click on "view longer
description" it
tells you what should be in each section. There's also a PDF form of the
rubric
in the description for each lab. Honestly, it would probably be easier
to look at
this PDF since it has everything spelled out w/o you having to click on
each of
the "view longer description" links.
I hope this helps to answer some of these general lab questions.
