Since exams are randomized it might be possible the answers and associated letters
on the exam may appear in different order on the keys.
For instance, for version 1 questions 16, 18 and 26 the answers aren't in the same
order as on the actual exam.
For example for #16 on the exam you will see,
A reaction is started with both reactants and products and proceeds in the reverse direction to reach equilibrium.
Which of the following statements best describes why the reaction proceeds in the reverse direction?
A. The rate constant of the reverse reaction is greater than the rate constant of the forward reaction.
B. The activation energy of the reverse reaction is less than the activation energy of the forward reaction.
C. The reactants are lower in energy than the products.
D. The initial rate of the reverse reaction is greater than the initial rate of the forward reaction.
On the answer key you will see:
A reaction is started with both reactants and products and proceeds in the reverse direction to reach equilibrium.
Which of the following statements best describes why the reaction proceeds in the reverse direction?
A. The initial rate of the reverse reaction is greater than the initial rate of the forward reaction.
B. The rate constant of the reverse reaction is greater than the rate constant of the forward reaction.
C. The activation energy of the reverse reaction is less than the activation energy of the forward reaction.
D. The reactants are lower in energy than the product.
Note how the answers are in different order (labeled with different letters).
The same thing happens for #18 and #26.
This is a warning that there could be other instances of this.
Thanks to one of your fellow students for alerting me to this.
