Ch 16 and some ch 17 (17.1-17.3) material is up in MC.
I know you've all been busy trying to catch up and study for the exam.
You can't
fall to far behind. Based on this and the fact our next quiz is next
Tuesday the
due dates for things are a little different.
NOT for Credit:
Ch 16 - Practice Exercise 1
Ch 17 ( 17.1-17.2) - Practice Exercise 1A
Ch 17 (17.3-17.6) - Practice Exercise 1B
DSM - Advanced Acids and Bases
DSM - Acid and Base Equilibria
DSM - Buffers
DSM - Acid - Base titrations
While the above have "due dates", since they're not for credit these dates
don't make a difference.
_*FOR Credit:*_
*The due date**s are **a little different than normal. *I've tried to
spread them
out over several days from this Friday to the following Monday before the
Tuesday, July 2, quiz. It looks like a lot but some are short. Here
they are
with the due dates.
Ch 16a (16.1-16.5) Tutorials - 11:59 PM, Friday, 6/28
Ch 16b (16.6-16.7) Tutorials - 11:59 PM, Friday, 6/28
Ch 16c (16.8-16.9) Tutorials - 11:59 PM, Saturday, 6/29
Ch 16d (16.10-16.11) Tutorials - 11:59 PM, Saturday, 6/29
Ch 16a (16.1-16.5) Homework Review - 11:59 PM, Sunday, 6/30
Ch 16b (16.6-16.7) Homework Review - 11:59 PM, Sunday, 6/30
Ch 16c (16.8-16.9) Homework Review - 11:59 PM, Sunday, 6/30
Ch 16d (16.10-16.11) Homework Review - 11:59 PM, Monday, 7/1
Ch 17a (17.1-17.2) Tutorials - 11:59 PM, Monday, 7/1
Ch 17a (17.1-17.2) Homework Review - 11:59 PM, Saturday, 7/6
The above are certainly the ones which pertain to the quiz next Tue.
The Homework Review problems are generally due the Saturday after
the quiz but everyone needs to get caught up after the exam.
The next ones for 17.3 are not going to be on the next quiz (next
Tues) but will be on the following one. They're already up though.
Ch17b (17.3) Tutorials - 11:59 PM, Sunday, 7/7
Ch17b (17.3) Homework Review - 11:59 PM, Tuesday, 7/9
I've heard the following about the homework, "are there hints?",
"I like the ones with the feedback", "should I be doing any problems other
than the ones on MC?", etc.
It appears they have hints for some things but not others. It seems they
don't have them for most of the homework problems, the DSM sets or
the Practice Exercises.
There are hints for the tutorials.
The Practice Exercises, DSM and tutorials have feedback. Some of the
homework review problems have feedback and some don't. I would like
it if every problem had feedback but they don't. The ones that give
feedback
when you're done with the problem show the pages in the book to refer to.
You really should be doing end-of-chapter problems from the textbook.
The homework problems from the book have hints and feedback. When you
do the book problems every single one has hints and feedback. That's the
solutions manual. You try a homework problem. Don't give up too quickly
and don't sit there for too long just wondering how to start or if
you're doing
it correctly. After 1-2 minutes take a peak at the solutions manual.
Most of
the problems have Analyze and Plan (just like the Sample Exercises w/in the
sections). Take a look at that part to see if you're doing the problem
correctly
or how to get started. Then if you get stuck again take another look.
However,
when you do get help you need to do another problem right away to reinforce
what you just say (kind of the idea behind the DSM problems). The problems
have "feedback". The solutions are pretty detailed with explanations. Then
use the homework on MC that pertains to the quiz for your review, at
least the
tutorials and even the ones which aren't due until after the quiz
(usually the
Homework Review ones).
I agree it would be very nice if all the on-line problems had feedback
but I have
no control over that. If you get stuck or don't understand an on-line
problem
please feel free to ask.
Some of the on-line homework problems are from the book or are similar
(maybe different compounds or numbers). This doesn't mean to simply look
at the solutions manual or get answers from somewhere else. This won't do
you any good. You will not have learned the material and that will show
on the quizzes and exams.
