I added a Ch 13 tutorial in MC which is "due" by Sat., 6/16. That's there
just to remind you it really should be finished by then, actually well
before
then. It will stay open for use until the end of the semester so there's no
real due date but you want to get it done. We started ch 14 today (actually
go through pretty much 14.3). There are no points associated with this
tutorial but could be helpful if you're struggling understanding things.
I'll be putting up a tutorial module later this evening covering ch 14.
Again, these are voluntary.
There are 2 DSM sets which are due by 11:59 PM this Wed. One covers
some ch 13 material and the other covers 14.1-14.3. You need to complete
these by then since the quiz will cover this material. You get 10 pts
for each
DSM.
The "homework" from the textbook I have on my web page does not count
toward your grade. Is it voluntary? I guess technically it is but then
again
anything you do for a grade in this class is voluntary. Of course if
you don't
do it you won't do well. These "assigned" problems give you the opportunity
to work on a problem and not be concerned if you don't get it right.
You can
get help from the solutions manual or anywhere else (make sure you do
another problem though to make sure you know how to do it on your own).
If that's all we were doing I would tell you the day before your quiz
you need
to skim the sections and do some more end-of-chapter problems as a review
to make sure you can still do them. Plus, doing things more than once helps
you learn it better and long term and gain confidence and speed.
To this end I've added a Ch 13 "homework review" in MC. This has some
questions about material from the chapter. They could be problems from the
book, often with different numbers, or new problems. There are 25 of these.
MC states it should about 90 minutes. That's 3.6 minutes per question on
average (some will take more, some less). I don't think it will take
that long,
particularly if you've done the "assigned" end-of-chapter problems. This
should be a REVIEW, not the first time you're doing these problems and not
the only time you're doing any homework. Mastering bases the estimated
time on this being the first time someone would be doing the problems and
that shouldn't be the case.
The due date is this Thursday, 6/11, at 11:59 PM. That's actually after the
quizzes are over. It should be done on Wed. I'm leaving it open until
11:59 PM
the day of the quiz in case anyone realizes they didn't do well wants to
go back over them.
I'll put something similar up for 14.1-14.3 as well later this evening,
both a
tutorial and review questions.
