I'm taking some things a little out of order in Sections 11.4 and 11.5.
In class on Tue I finished 11.2 and 11.3. I discussed melting, heat of
fusion, vaporization and heat of vaporization from 11.4. I then
discussed Section 11.5 which covers vapor pressure, volatility (ease
of vaporization). I was in the process of discussing the
Clausius-Clapeyron eqn and will finish it next Tue. This is discussed
in a Closer Look box. You should read it. EOCEs 11.86 and 11.87
cover this eqn (they are in the Additional Exercises).

We will finish Ch 11 (11.5, 11.4 and 11.6) and start solids next week
Tue. We won't be covering section 11.7 (liquid crystals) or ionic liquids
in ch 11 (in a "Chemistry and Sustainability" box in section 11.3) in
detail. They won't be on the final exam.

We cover a little bit about the solid state in Ch 11. There's more
detailed coverage of solids in Ch 12 (Solids and Modern Materials).
I will send more info about solids and Ch 12 in another e-mail. We
won't technically be using Ch 12 in the book. The forthcoming e-mail
will explain.
