Someone asked what we got through this past week. We got through section 2.1.
You want to try to get the reading and EOC exercises for this done before Tuesday's
lecture. Technically you should have been done with this by today. We're a little
behind. We have not covered 2.2 or 2.3 but they will be on the first quiz. They're
pretty straightforward. Some people have already started the Mastering homework
for those sections. I would suggest leaving the Mastering until this week after
doing EOC problems.
Skim up through section 2.8 before Tue. That means just read through it quickly and
don't worry if you understand it. Don't bother doing the Sample Exercises, Self
Assessment questions, etc. You're just trying to get a rough idea of what we're going
to cover. Generally, skim about a half a chapter (4-5 sections) ahead before a lecture.
We might not get to them all but skimming a little too many is better than too few.
Next Sunday's quiz will cover Ch 1 and 2.1-2.3. I will put more details on my personal
class web page and send an e-mail about it when it's ready. Use Mastering as a review
for the quiz after doing some EOC problems. You don't have to wait until Friday and
Sat. You might consider starting some of them by this Wed. I suggest doing half of the
Tutorials sets on Wed. and the other half on Thur. Then do half the Homework Review
sets on Friday and finish them on Saturday. You can go in and out of the Mastering
homework sets, even in the middle of a question. Just remember the due dates. They
will generally be on Fri and Sat. If not, I'll let you all know. Check Mastering often just
to make sure you didn't miss something.
The due dates will not be extended unless there's extenuating circumstances. If you
miss the due date you can still do them but won't get credit.
