MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2025 Jan 20

Observer(s): John Thorstensen
Institution(s): Dartmouth

Instrument: Templeton direct

Worked for 6 hours (first half of the night)
Conditions were Photometric most of the night.
No equipment or software problems were encountered.

Seeing and Weather:
   High Winds all night.
Beg: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate
Mid: Seeing 3-ish arcsec, Clear, Winds High
   End: Clear, Winds Above Limit

Observing Summary:

The night started out nice, with some wispy clouds blowing through
and decent seeing. After a few hours the seeing blew up, and
it got windier and windier. Justin reported consistent gusts over
40 mph, and being on scene recommended we close, which we did,
around midnight MST.

The encoder magic worked, and I did get to the target at +74
without any problem.
