[All-extension] Interim Associate State 4-H Leader Appointment

We are pleased to announce that Kirk Bloir has accepted an offer to be appointed as Interim Associate State 4-H Leader.  This appointment will begin July 1, 2014 and continue through December 31, 2014. The primary purpose of this interim assignment is to bridge the gap between Vicki Schwartz's retirement and the subsequent appointment of an associate state 4-H leader by the end of 2014. Kirk will have the opportunity to shadow Vicki before her retirement.



Kirk's duties will include: Providing primary leadership to 4-H program and volunteer risk management issues including policy development and implementation; serving in a leadership role to respond to day-to-day questions and issues that arise in local and state 4-H programming; and providing guidance to 4-H program management issues.  This includes serving as the liaison between The Ohio State University Office of Legal Affairs and 4-H faculty and staff.  This will also involve close coordination with OSU Extension regional directors, the OSU Extension department chair, and the CFAES and university human resources units.



In addition, Kirk will also provide interim leadership to assigned duties associated with the 4-H displays and competition at the 2014 Ohio State Fair.  He will also provide oversight and interim guidance in the preliminary preparations for the 2015 Ohio 4-H Conference, including the RFP and proposal selection process for conference workshops, and the coordination of the state 4-H volunteer award processes. He will fulfill other interim duties associated with this assignment such as: (a) liaison to the Ohio Valley EERA 4-H professionals; (b) active participant in 4-H specialist meetings, state 4-H staff meetings and other State 4-H Office functions; and (c) partner in weekly planning meetings with the state 4-H leader.
