This is sounding more and more like Winter Dysentery, Dustin Loy. I have the paper from Japan if anyone wants it, just email me.

Thanks very much to all of you who have responded to my question about
disease due to coronavirus in adult horses. Dr. Ed Dubovi forwarded a
message from Dr. Linda Mittel at Cornell who has experience with cases,
and she gave me permission to post it on our listserv―see below. Thanks,
Dr. Mittel.
ACVM Diplomates: if you’d like a copy of the summary Dr. Mittel sent me,
let me know and I’ll send it to you off the list.
Amelia
Dear Dr. Woolums,
I wanted to address your questions on corona virus in horses. I have
been working with corona virus in horses for over 3 years. We have seen
a number of cases in horses in NY and also submission from many states.
We consistently get positive PCRs for the beta corona in the feces of
horse with fevers, depression, gi upset exhibited as anorexia, subtle to
moderately severe colic, +/- diarrhea and in some cases hyperammonemia.
The presentations show no signs of respiratory illness even though we
have positive PCRs from nasal swabs in a small percentage of cases.
Pusterla is publishing on this and percentages associated with clinically
ill animals. Some horses seem to become very ill and others no ill it
appears although feces are positive by PCR.
There is a paper published from japan of experimental challenge in horses
and the clinical presentation, PCR results, etc.
I do not have access to the published article at this time, but should be
in pub med . It was published in 2015 I believe.
There will be a review article out in EVJ in the nearest future that was
written by Pusterla, Vin, Divers, Mittel, and Leuttenegger.
I am not sure when that is to be published.
I have attached a summary I did for the Equine Communication Center
disease work up page.
