Dear Angeliki,

I am so sorry to hear this very sad news. I worked with Laura for many years on the journal Women: A Cultural Review. She was a very warm person who made a huge contribution to studies in biography and autobiography, and of course to Woolf studies.

A great loss to the academic community.
Best wishes,
Trudi

Dear Woolfians,

it is with great sorrow that I have to announce the horrible news of the death of Laura Marcus, on 22nd September 2021 at the age of 65. She died of pancreatic cancer diagnosed just two months ago.
Laura was an English Professor at Oxford, and a distinguished Woolf and Modernism scholar. She was also a very warm, witty and generous person as the people who knew her will agree.
Hers is a great loss for her family, academia, and the Woolf community.
Laura was my supervisor at Sussex years ago and a friend ever since, so I feel her loss very acutely. But I am sure many of the people on this list knew and loved her and will be equally devastated by the news.
Rest in peace, dear Laura.

love to all
Angeliki
