Yep-vol 4 page 313 of the Letters (Hogarth 1978). How encouraging that
someone is fact-checking a Woolf quotation.;)

I did a quick search of my electronic edition and it is apparently from VW's
letter Ethel Smyth, Wednesday April 15th 1931.
I haven't checked it against the print version of her letters, but Cook
should be able to find it by the date in the print version.
cheers,
Madelyn

Greetings, all,
Please see below. This quotation doesn't sound familiar to me. Does anyone
know if Woolf in fact said/wrote it?
Many thanks, as always,

Hi Dr. Czarnecki,
I have a rather specific question I hope you might be able to help with. I'm
in the process of fact-checking a book, which will be released next summer.
Included in the book is a quote attributed to Virginia Woolf: "My head is a
hive of words that won't settle." I've gone down a rabbit hole searching for
the source of this, but am having difficulty confirming it.
I got your name and contact information from the Virginia Woolf Society
website. Do you happen to know if Woolf actually wrote this famous quote and
if so, where it is located?
Thanks much for your time.
