The best thing to do is to check with the zoning and building department in Zanesville (if that is where the operation is proposed to be located) and explain what you want to do. Many municipalities have ordinances prohibiting livestock and things like that, but aquaponics is a different kind of "animal" and you may be able to help educate the city officials and be involved in clearing the way for what you want to do.  Being hands-on and determined is the best method and always look to educate wherever you can.

Zoning has been an issue with a few aquaculture operations (I’ve not heard of any for aquaponics yet) where local officials didn’t understand that aquaculture is considered agriculture under Ohio Revised Code (attached). Does anyone have any information or experience starting an aquaponics operation within city limits ? Any problems with things like zoning laws health department . I have emailed my local extension office several times without a reply so I thought I would pick your brains.
